Rothamsted Research is looking to an experienced researcher to work on BBSRC funded project “Algal oils by design”.
The project is focused on metabolic engineering of algae for the optimised accumulation of high value lipids such as omega-3 long chain fatty acids. The project has the goal of developing a robust system for the use of microalgae as a new microbial platform for the production of high-value products.
Candidates will be required to have a PhD in a biological/microbiological subject. Experience in synthetic biology techniques, lipidomics and in the manipulation and transformation of algae is essential. Experience of gas chromatography and sample preparation and knowledge of lipid biochemistry techniques would be desirable.
The ideal candidate will have good understanding of data ownership rules and the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing material of a specialist/highly technical nature.
This full time fixed term role is funded until the end of 2018 and has a salary in the range of £29,842 to £32,315 per annum.
