Syd Wright awarded an MBE in the New Years Honours list

Syd Wright of the Plant and Invertebrate Ecology Department has been awarded an MBE in the New Years Honours list. The award recognises Syd's 30-year role as Chief Technician to the Rothamsted Insect Survey, with responsibility for the construction, installation and maintenance of our networks of suction traps and light traps throughout the UK.

Former Rothamsted Director Sir Leslie Fowden FRS dies age 83

Sir Leslie was appointed Director of Rothamsted Experimental Station in 1973 and of the Institute of Arable Crops Research (which included Long Ashton Research Station) from its formation in 1986 until his retirement in 1988.

Robert Sturdy MEP receives petition signed by 72 scientists

A petition signed by 72 scientists and agriculturists voicing their concern over the rate at which established crop protection products are being removed from the market was today presented to the European Parliament by Professor John Lucas from Rothamsted Research.
